Fees and Payments Policy.

Payment Methods.

Blue Door Psychology accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express and debit card payments, Afterpay (in-store), and Direct Deposit (bank transfer). Payments can be made online, over the phone, or in person at the clinic.

We absorb standard card processing fees, so there are no additional surcharges for card payments.

Cash payments are accepted; however, we do not keep change on site, so please bring the correct amount if paying by cash.

Payment of fees.

Payment is required at the time of each appointment unless otherwise agreed in writing.

For all assessments, staged payment schedules are outlined on the relevant assessment information page on our website and within the corresponding assessment information booklet, usually provided at the time of enquiry or booking. These staged payments form part of the agreed fee structure and are expected in accordance with the schedule provided.

For therapy appointments, consultations, feedback sessions, and group programs, the full session fee is payable on the day of the appointment unless otherwise specified.

For telehealth, virtual, or phone appointments (including feedback sessions), payment may be required in advance of the appointment. Where pre-payment is required, the appointment will be confirmed once payment has been received.

Please note that final diagnostic reports will not be written or released until all outstanding balances have been paid in full.

Unpaid fees.

Where fees remain unpaid, Blue Door Psychology reserves the right to pause services, withhold reports, or decline future bookings until the account is brought up to date. If accounts remain unpaid, Blue Door Psychology reserves the right to refer the outstanding balance to a debt recovery service.

Refunds.

Fees for services that have already been provided are non-refundable.

Where payment has been made in advance for services not yet delivered, any request for a refund will be considered on a case-by-case basis and at the discretion of Blue Door Psychology.

Additional Assessment Recommendations.

In some cases, during the course of an assessment, areas of concern may emerge that were not originally identified at the time of referral. Where this occurs, the Psychologist may recommend additional assessment components to ensure a thorough and clinically appropriate evaluation.

Any additional recommendations will be discussed with you prior to proceeding, including the purpose of the assessment and any associated fees. No additional services will be undertaken without your consent.

Funding.

Private health insurance.

Many private health funds provide rebates for psychological services and assessments; however, coverage varies between providers and individual policies. We recommend contacting your private health insurer directly to confirm your specific entitlements prior to booking.

Where you are eligible for a rebate, payment is required at the time of your appointment. If your fund supports on-the-spot claiming via EFTPOS, we can process your claim at the clinic and you will only be required to pay the gap (if applicable). Alternatively, you may pay the full fee and submit the receipt we provide to your health fund for reimbursement.

If your private health insurer requires additional information in order to determine your rebate eligibility, please contact us and we will provide the relevant details.

Medicare

Medicare rebates are not available for most assessment services provided at Blue Door Psychology.

A partial Medicare rebate may be available for Autism (ASD) assessment under specific criteria. To be eligible:

  • A referral must be made by a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist for collaboration under the Helping Children with Autism (HCWA) initiative.

  • The child must be under 13 years of age.

  • The Paediatrician or Psychiatrist must have developed a treatment plan for the child.

Where these criteria are met, the current rebate (2025/2026) is $98.95 per eligible appointment, for a maximum of four appointments (maximum total rebate of $395.80).

In some circumstances, where a child is considered to have an eligible disability, a General Practitioner may provide the referral for the Autism assessment. For further details regarding eligibility criteria, please contact us or speak directly with your referring medical practitioner.

If you intend to claim a Medicare rebate, the appropriate referral must be obtained prior to attending your appointment.

NDIS

The NDIS does not typically fund diagnostic assessments, regardless of whether a plan is self-managed, plan-managed, or NDIA-managed. We recommend reviewing your individual plan or speaking with your Support Coordinator to confirm whether you have specific funding available for assessment services.

If you are seeking to use NDIS funding for services provided by Blue Door Psychology, please ensure this is confirmed prior to booking. All fees remain payable in accordance with this policy unless otherwise agreed in writing.
