Why Families Choose Blue Door Psychology.
A Thoughtful, Holistic Approach
Every child is different. Our assessments are designed to understand the whole child — their strengths, learning style, personality and emotional world — not just the behaviours that prompted concern. We take the time to listen carefully and build a clear, balanced picture of what is going on.
A Thorough and Individualised Process
We gather information from multiple perspectives, including home, school and direct assessment, so that no single moment defines the outcome. Our approach is responsive to your child and your family’s questions, ensuring the assessment feels meaningful and relevant — not rushed or generic.
Clear Answers and Practical Direction
Families often come to us feeling uncertain or overwhelmed. Our aim is to help you better understand your child and what they need, so the next steps feel clearer and more manageable. Whether or not a diagnosis is made, you will leave with a deeper understanding of your child and practical, tailored recommendations that offer genuine next steps for home and school.

1. Booking and Intake
Families can book directly online without a referral. Following booking, we send a detailed intake form to gather background information and better understand your concerns and your child’s history.
2. Assessment Sessions
Your child attends one or more assessment sessions in a calm, supportive environment. We tailor the pace and approach to suit their age, comfort and individual profile.
3. Information Gathering
To ensure a well-rounded understanding, we gather additional information through parent and teacher questionnaires where appropriate. This allows us to consider your child’s strengths and challenges across different settings and perspectives.
4. Feedback and Report
We meet with you to explain the findings clearly and discuss practical next steps for home and school. A detailed, individualised written report is then finalised and provided within 8 weeks, following the feedback appointment.
What to expect.
“How do I know if my child needs an Autism or ADHD assessment?”
If you’ve noticed ongoing challenges with attention, learning, social interaction, emotional regulation or behaviour - and you’re feeling unsure about what’s driving them - an assessment can provide clarity. Many families seek assessment not because they are certain of a diagnosis, but because they want a deeper understanding of their child’s strengths and needs. Whether or not a diagnosis is made, the process offers meaningful insight and practical direction.
